Venue Information
Venue Overview | A multi-pitch trad climbing area with 39 climbs from grade 16 upwards in a pristine bushveld area with excellent hiking possible in the hills and gullies over the entire north and south range. |
Permit / Permission info | The area is owned by the SA National Defence Force and written permission from the army is required. Apply well in advance. |
Approx travel time from Jhb | 3 ½ hours to army gate and another ½ hour to the camp area. A car with good ground clearance is required; 4×4 is advisable but not essential. |
Parking info | Car camping, so park next to tents at the campsite; parking is free of charge and safe. |
Walk-in | The walk from the camp to the base of the climbs takes between half an hour to an hour for most climbs. It is possible to drive some way towards climbs that are further away. |
Accommodation | Bush camping next to cars. There are no facilities available, nor are there any camping or access fees charged. |
Availability of drinking water | All water to be brought in. |

Climbing info | 39 recorded multi-pitch trad climbs, ranging between grades 16 and 20 up 200 to 300 meter cliffs. Climbing is mostly in the sun, but shade is possible. Walk off via various gullies. |
